Q. What makes Protech different?
A. Protech Skin Care Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 30+ goes on like a light moisturizer, absorbs quickly leaving your skin feeling silky on the surface and moisturizing from the inside. Good absorption is the key to taking its sunscreens including Avobenzone, Oxybenzone and Octinoxate into your skin to continue providing protection even when you wipe the sweat off your face. Applied 20-30 minutes prior to strenuous activity Protech doesn't not sweat off and you aren't wiping it off. The moisturizers keep your skin comfortable and help prevent wind burn and chapping and the high-end sunscreens provide protection from UVB, UVA short and UVA long rays.
Q. How often does one have to apply Protech?
A. Everyone's skin is different; however, the American Cancer Society recommends users reapply sunscreen every few hours primarily for 2 reasons a) people tend to be too stingy with the amount applied and b) you are more likely to miss a spot than not. Protech Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 30+ has been tested extensively in very extreme weather conditions with only one application and been found superior in performance, provided you apply liberally, don't miss a spot and let the product absorb for 30 minutes prior to strenuous activity.
Q. Why only 30+ -- isn't SPF 45 or higher better?
A.
Part 1: The FDA has given all sunscreen makers until 2005 to comply with new labeling requirements requiring no claim higher than "30+" can be made. Higher SPF products do not make it safer to be out in the sun longer and the FDA has determined that the higher claims are misleading consumers into thinking that they can safely stay outside longer.
Part 2: Protech is SPF 30+, which means that it's "over 30". We are in compliance with the impending FDA ruling on acceptable labeling regarding SPF.
Q. Is Protech waterproof?
A. The FDA has given all sunscreen makers until 2005 to comply with new labeling requirements regarding this issue. No sunscreen will be able to claim "waterproof". The new approved claims allowed are "Water Resistant" and "Very Water Resistant." To be absolutely sure that you're protected, every sunscreen should be reapplied after prolonged exposure to water or strenuous exercise. For example, when you towel dry your face you are wiping off the sunscreen. Protech is "water-resistant", meaning protection lasts up to 40 minutes in water. "Very water resistant" means protection lasts up to 80 minutes in water.
Q. How long can I stay out with Protech on?
A. The way to figure out your limit is to multiply the amount of time it takes your skin to turn pink (e.g. 20 minutes) by the SPF level and that's how long you can stay out without burning. So, if yours is 15 minutes, and you use Protech, which is 30+, you can stay out 450 minutes or 7.5 hours. Protech creates a light shield and helps protect your face from the other environmental factors like wind, weather and extreme temperature which can also cause your skin to become red, dry, sore or irritated.
Q. A 3 oz. tube of Protech is $32 - it's more expensive than some other brands, why?
A. Protech is a "hybrid" between a sunscreen and skin care using the latest in skin care technology to bring you a very high SPF in a facial moisturizer that feels great, provides essential moisture to protect your skin from excessive dryness and doesn't evaporate when outdoors for extended periods of time. Protech literally out-performs other sunscreens in extreme outdoor conditions. If you're an outdoor enthusiast you'll probably start wearing Protech as your everyday moisturizer! |
